New Minimum Wages Order effective 1 May 2022; employers with less than 5 employees exempted

The commonly-predicted Minimum amount Wages Buy 2022 (“the Order”) was gazetted on 27 April 2022. The Purchase, pursuant to part 23 of the Countrywide Wages Consultative Council Act 2011, will increase the bare minimum wage nationwide to RM1,500 from 1 May well 2022. There is a non permanent exemption until finally 31 December 2022 from the increase for employers with less than 5 employees.

New bare minimum wage from 1 Could 2022
From 1 May 2022, the regular monthly least wage will be improved to RM1,500 nationwide. The Order also presents minimum wage fees for workers paid on a everyday or hourly basis, as set out in this table:
Momentary exemption for companies with significantly less than 5 staff members
There is a short-term exemption until 31 December 2022 for companies with significantly less than 5 employees. Even so, this exemption does not apply to businesses who have out specialist actions (as classified less than the Malaysia Common Classification of Occupations revealed by the Ministry of Human Means), irrespective of amount of employees.
For exempted companies, the current minimum wage fees will proceed to apply, and the Buy presents that from 1 January 2023 the new bare minimum wage rates will apply to all companies.
